At Visual Soldiers, we believe that the heart of our work is the people behind the pixels—and today, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our talented designers. From large‑scale environmental graphics to dynamic web projects, they bring creativity, grit, and a solutions‑first mindset to everything they do. Read on to learn more about their role, inspiration, and advice for anyone looking to break into the digital marketing and design space.
Can you describe your role at Visual Soldiers and the key responsibilities you handle?
I am a brand and digital designer at Visual Soldiers, however, no two days look the same for me. One moment, I’m crafting large‑scale environmental designs, and the next, I’m diving deep into a new website or strategizing a brand’s digital presence. The pace at which we work and the variety of projects we tackle keeps my head on a swivel, but it’s one of my favorite parts about my position!
What attracted you to join Visual Soldiers, and what keeps you motivated here?
I wanted to push myself as a designer and explore different facets of the industry, which led me to discover Visual Soldiers. But it was during my interview that I truly connected with the team’s creative mindset and problem‑solving approach. This is a group that thrives on tackling challenges head‑on through collaboration, smart solutions, and unwavering support. Being surrounded by that kind of energy keeps me inspired and grateful every day.
How do you integrate our company's core values into your daily work?
At VS, we live by the mantra of getting sh*t done; no matter the challenge. That mindset has always resonated with me personally, so working alongside like‑minded creatives makes it a natural part of my daily workflow.
Can you share a recent project you worked on and the impact it had on our clients?
While not the most recent project, one of my first projects at Visual Soldiers was designing environmental graphics for the Crisp Game Changers Summit. It was a large‑scale project with tight turnarounds, but an exciting challenge. The fast pace, creative problem‑solving and VS teamwork made the experience incredibly rewarding, and seeing how thrilled the client was with the final result made it even better.
How do you stay updated with the latest trends in digital marketing and design?
While platforms like Dribbble, Behance, and social media are great for trendspotting, I’m a bit old‑school, I love to read. Whether it’s books, in‑depth articles, LinkedIn insights, or even agency blogs, I find long‑form content just as valuable as the latest industry buzz. Sometimes, even looking back at older publications can be just as inspiring as discovering the next big trend.
What strategies do you use to balance creativity with meeting client expectations and deadlines?
These days, I’m embracing AI and the capabilities it has to be a truly helpful tool. Tools like Notion, ChatGPT, and Google Calendar help me stay on track with goals, deadlines, and keep project details organized. On the flip side, I think it’s very important to invest time away from the hustle: journaling, long walks, or quick sketches are awesome at refreshing a creative mindset.
Can you share a memorable challenge you've faced in your role and how you overcame it?
One project I worked on recently faced a significant hiccup due to unforeseen cost issues, which could have been a major setback. But our team pivoted quickly, reorganized my workflow and put me in a position to get us back on track much faster than expected. The turnaround not only kept the production schedule tight but also gave our client peace of mind. Seeing their relief and trust in our ability to problem‑solve was incredibly rewarding.
How do you collaborate with other team members to ensure project success?
Our team excels at clear, consistent communication, which is crucial in a hybrid work environment. There is always someone available for fresh eyes or feedback on any work, ensuring that every project detail is accounted for & nothing slips through the cracks. I’ve always valued strong, transparent communication, but working with the VS team has definitely helped me refine and expand those skills even further.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in the digital marketing and design industry?
Two key things: never stop creating and always embrace feedback. One particular talk by Ira Glass resonates heavily with me, emphasizing that the key to growth is continuous creation. In this industry you’ll work on thousands of projects, but the real magic is in keeping that creative momentum going and interacting with your creative counterparts to get opinions on your work, simultaneously building integral relationships.
What upcoming projects or goals are you excited about, and how do you plan to achieve them?
Honestly, there’s a lot in the pipeline for VS, so it’s hard to pick just one. However, anything and everything web‑related has me especially excited. Web projects feel like a dynamic dance between design and development. Mastering the intricacies of design while considering various development aspects is a true challenge, but staying organized and consistently seeking feedback is key to delivering great web work.
